Cake Donuts

I’d like to try my hand at making donuts. What’s a cake donut?

Cake donuts are made with baking powder and sometimes additional baking soda as the leavening and as their name indicates, have a slightly dense cakey texture.  Yeast-risen doughnuts have a lighter texture and a fairly limited palette of flavors compared to cake donuts.  And don’t even get me started about cronuts…
