Rathausbruecke Market, Zurich

Rathausbruecke Market, Zurich

Rathausbruecke Market, Zurich

This is the Swiss market I know best, mainly because most time that I’m in Zurich I’m usually in residence at the Hotel Storchen Zurich on a Saturday morning and the market is just outside the hotel’s front door.  Not an enormous market by the standards of most outdoor makets worldwide, but varied in scope and selections.  There are several vendors selling fruit and vegetables while there are also flowers, cheeses, several stands of excellent baked specialties (one comes in from Appenzell), olive oil and flavored vinegars, and in season, roasted chestnuts.

Also on Saturday morning, the vast flea market at Buerkliplatz, a 5-minute walk away, is worth a quick walk through, while the same area is host to a fabulous flower market on Friday mornings.
